Position Summary
The Inventory Control Specialist plays a key role in maintaining accurate inventory levels of high-performance plastic materials and products within a fast-paced distribution environment. This position ensures all inventory transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled, supporting smooth warehouse operations, on-time order fulfillment, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate inventory records of performance plastic sheet, rod, tube, and film products in ERP systems
Perform routine cycle counts and physical inventories to identify discrepancies and reconcile variances
Investigate root causes of inventory errors and collaborate with warehouse, shipping, and purchasing teams to correct issues
Monitor inbound and outbound material flow to ensure proper documentation and handling procedures are followed
Analyze inventory trends and usage patterns to support forecasting and stock level optimization
Assist in developing and refining inventory control processes and SOPs to support accuracy and efficiency
Collaborate with customer service and sales teams to resolve order fulfillment issues related to stock availability
Ensure compliance with internal inventory control standards and industry best practices
Support warehouse staff during high-volume periods and participate in special projects as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or coursework in supply chain or logistics preferred
2+ years of inventory control or warehouse experience, preferably in a distribution or plastics-related environment
Forklift certification is required
Working knowledge of ERP or WMS systems (e.g., SYSPRO, Prophet 21, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Familiarity with performance plastics and handling requirements is a plus
Ability to lift and move materials up to [e.g., 50 lbs] and operate material handling equipment as needed
Work Environment
Warehouse and distribution center environment with exposure to material storage, cutting equipment, and forklifts
May require standing, lifting, and walking for extended periods
Occasional overtime or weekend work during inventory counts or peak seasons
