The Lead Machinist sets up and operates machines to produce components that match the production orders stating customer's specifications including dimensions and finishes. Plans and executes assignments using a wide variety of machines such as: lathes, milling machines, drill press.
May operate computer-controlled machine (CNC) and uses precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work.


This position reports to the Warehouse Manager

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as engine lathe, drill press, milling machine, CNC Mill, CNC Lathe.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and job instructions to determine procedures and operational sequence and measuring devices such as: micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, venires, scales, gauges, and similar tools.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance
  • Check measuring devices on a rotational basis using standards established by the Quality Assurance department.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary production records and reports.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and assists with routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Train new employees as needed
  • Assist fellow coworkers in active problem-solving.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Operate forklift truck to load, unload and move materials.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in operating and setting up CNC machines, demonstrates ability to run all machines in warehouse.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, tool holders, and work holding devices.
  • Understanding of G-code programming and CAD/CAM software.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines
Physical requirements
  • Forklift Operator Certification, frequent bending, kneeling, push, pull and stooping, occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., frequent standing and walking
  • Subject to outdoor temperatures
